Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin was a comedy hit.

The show, which was a spinoff to the Pitch Perfect musical comedy franchise following the uncouth Bumper Allen , also starred Sarah Hyland, Jameela Jamil, Lera Abova, and Flula Borg. When season 1 debuted on Peacock in November 2022, the show had the biggest premiere for a comedy on the platform, and it was renewed for season 2 that January.
Per Deadline, Peacock has decided to cancel season 2 of Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin. The show was in pre-production when the beginning of the writers strike in May put a pause on its development, which was followed by the Bumper in Berlin cast being part of the actors strike that followed in July.
Is It Possible to Save Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin? Even though Bumper in Berlin was initially a success for Peacock, it doesn't seem likely that the show will be picked up at another platform. For one thing, the rights to the Pitch Perfect trilogy and its spinoff still belong to NBCUniversal, so the only other natural place for it to air would be NBC itself. While the opposite has happened, so far no show has ever migrated from Peacock to NBC.
The critics' responses to Bumper in Berlin could also throw a wrench in any interest from other parties. With a 46 out of 100 on Metacritic and a matching 46% on Rotten Tomatoes, season 2 may not prove to be a hot commodity elsewhere, especially as the strikes are still ongoing and preventing development. The cost of shooting on location in Europe could also make the series prohibitively expensive.
Unfortunately for Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, there is also no precedent for Peacock's canceled IP series being rescued. So far they have canceled their Saved by the Bell reboot, Punky Brewster, and MacGruber with no signs of renewals elsewhere. It's possible for the streamer to reverse their decision should the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers negotiate a deal with the unions soon, but that could still take quite a bit of time.
