NLL veteran Dan Lintner, a sparkplug in the offensive zone, is finding his groove with the Saskatchewan Rush early this season.

Lintner plays like he’s built like the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Mark Matthews, and not the 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds that he actually is.We deliver the local news you need in these turbulent times on weekdays at 3 p.m.By clicking on the sign up button you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc. “I tend to play more of an inside game, relatively gritty I guess you could call it. I like to get into the tough areas, get my teammates open more often than myself, ideally. I realistically try to do what I can to help our offence every time I’m out there and work as hard as I can. “He’s always been a tremendous off-ball. He’s a guy who’s going to score from that five to 10 feet from the net and go to the hard areas. That’s kind of what we envisioned getting when we made the move for him last year. Again, it took him a little bit of time for him to kind of get comfortable, but even towards the end of last year, he was very good. I think he’s been everything we expected and then more.

In 84 career NLL games with Toronto, Rochester, Buffalo and Saskatchewan, Lintner now has 100 goals and 76 assists. “I really enjoy playing in this offence, and this group,” said Lintner. “It’s definitely something that maybe has come a little bit better — I don’t want to say easier because it’s still tough to score goals in this league — but definitely than prior years I’ve had on other teams. It definitely has something to do with it, for sure.
