The crash occurred in Marietta, near the Ohio River, around 7:10 a.m. Tuesday. The small plane is believed to have left from the Columbus area.
A small commuter plane that took off from John Glenn International Airport Tuesday morning crashed near the border of Ohio and West Virginia about an hour later, killing the pilot and a passenger.
The crash occurred in Marietta around 7:15 a.m. in a parking lot on the 1000 block of Pike Street at a car dealership, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. The patrol confirmed that two people were on board and both died in the crash. The 1974 Beechcraft King Air E90 took off from John Glenn International Airport around 6:40 a.m., believed to be headed to West Virginia.
The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The patrol said no one on the ground was injured but there were reports to damage of vehicles at the car dealership. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will also be involved in the investigation of the crash.
