Brosnan plays master thief Richard Pace who's recruited by a well-to-do group of modern-day Robin Hoods to steal a reserve of gold bars that are stored beneath a corrupt prison.
The Misfits movie flips the script on typical Bond plots and characteristics by showcasing Pierce, one of the many actors who have played Bond before, as an international criminal. Despite its promising premise with the former Bond star in the lead, The Misfits proved to be a major misfire with a modest audience score of 49% and an even sadder "Tomatometer" score of 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Misfit's Started A 7-Movie "Rotten" Trend For Pierce Brosnan After The Misfits, Brosnan took up roles in several movies, all of which have trended badly on Rotten Tomatoes. Brosnan's saving grace seems to be that audiences tend to favor his movies more than critics, however critical "Tomatometer" scores have rated his last seven films seriously low. As The Misfits has since proven, being a Bond legacy just isn't enough to redeem an altogether lackluster movie.
Why The Misfits' Reviews Are So Bad Among Brosnan's latest endeavors, The Misfits stands out not only for kicking off a streak of badly reviewed movies but for being the lowest-rated film at 17%. Reviews condemned director Renny Harlin's out-of-touch style, as it appeared to recreate tones and scenes from better action films without forming unique characteristics for itself.
Over and above that, The Misfits' cast of characters lacked the finesse to save the film from sinking so low. Besides Brosnan, familiar faces like Jamie Chung, Nick Cannon, and Tim Roth attempted to elevate the flailing movie with their combined star power, but it wasn't enough to compensate for unimaginative action sequences and the lukewarm storyline that audiences felt were The Misfits' sorest spots.
