Phoenix wins $1M for public art projects that will provide shade to the city

PHOENIX — It's hot in Phoenix, and everyone is looking for a way to escape the sun. Fortunately, nine artists have just been handed $1 million to create shade-providing public art displays throughout the city!will commission nine artists for shading and cooling installations in response to sweltering urban temperatures.

They'll go up through various parks and neighborhoods in need of relief over the next two years, according to a release from the organization.
