PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said the country is expected to increase its fishing yield due to “progress” in the country’s talks with China on contested fishing grounds in the West Philippine Sea .

“The latest report showed they are now being followed [by Chinese vessels], unlike before where they were being barred entry [in the fishing grounds]. So there’s a little progress there,” Marcos said. The country’s talks on fishing matters have reached the point where there is now coordination on the fishing ban to minimize its impact on all fishermen, according to Marcos.
