Philadelphia has retained its status as the third city most infested with bed bugs in the United States, according to Orkin.
Now the city has also retained its spot in third on the company’s “Top 50 Bed Bug Cities List.”the cities that made the list via press release on Tuesday during a time in which, according to them, most Americans are starting to plan their vacations for the year. As a means to keeping travelers well-informed, Orkin compiled metro-area bed bug treatment data between Dec. 1, 2021 and Nov. 30, 2022 to see which cities had the most residential and commercial treatments.
People heading to New York and Chicago should be just as cautious as going to Philly, as the cities held on to their respective second and first rankings. While many travelers may believe bed bugs at hotel rooms to be more of the location’s issue, not theirs, Orkin notes how the insect can “travel from place to place with ease, clinging to items such as luggage, purses and other personal belongings.”
