The Phillies, who played the Miami Marlins in Philadelphia this past weekend, announced that a coach and 1 member of the clubhouse staff have tested positive for the coronavirus

late Wednesday night that Major League Baseball officials are strongly encouraging players not to leave their hotels on the road except for games.

MLB will reportedly also begin mandating the use of surgical masks during travel and require each team to travel with a compliance officer who will be tasked with ensuring that the players and staff correctly follow the league's enhanced protocols. The Phillies games against the Yankees this week had already been canceled and Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo told reporters Thursday that his team’s three-game series in Philadelphia has now also been postponed.

The Marlins remain in Philadelphia, undergoing daily testing, as Major League Baseball has postponed all of their games through Sunday."With the league now having postponed games, there is precedent, sources said, for pausing play at the first sign of an outbreak," reports ESPN's Jeff Passan."If it's evident a cluster could be forming, one official said, the league could stop play for one team to get a better sense of how penetrative the virus has been.
