The Philippine sepak takraw team had to settle for the bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, after losing to Indonesia in the men's quadrant on Tuesday.
The Filipinos lost to the defending Asian Games champion Indonesia in three sets, 15-21, 25-24, 21-17, in the semifinal round.Following their victory over the Filipinos, Indonesia advanced to Wednesday's gold medal game to face fellow Southeast Asian country Myanmar, who defeated Japan in three sets in their semifinal.
The 6-man sepak quadrant team of Jason Huerte, Mark Joseph Gonzales, Rheyjey Ortouste, Ronsited Gabayeron, Jom Rafael, and Vince Torno, defeated Japan, South Korea, India, and Singapore in the preliminaries before reaching the semifinals.With the sepak team's bronze, the Philippines now has one gold, one silver, and 9 bronze medals in the 19th Asian Games.
