PHILIPPINE Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez said the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement between the Philippines and the United States countries is not directed at any country, including China.Speaking to the Manila Times on Wednesday, Romualdez said the EDCA is for the Philippines' interest.

'Well, they've always supported us, they support our win with the arbitral award and I think the visit of Secretary Austin will emphasize that,' he said at the time.The ambassador said Austin's Philippine visit is 'very crucial', and hopes to come to agreements in terms with the country's defense, particularly the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He also said the military relations with the US are 'very strong'.
