PGA Briged Tenggara personnel seized over 150,000 white cigarettes during an operation in Kampung Paloh, Tumpat.
PGA Briged Tenggara's unit seized over 150,000 white cigarettes worth RM165,000 during Operation Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan in Kampung Paloh, Tumpat, yesterday. Briged Tenggara PGA Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the seizure was made by a team from Battalion 9 after detecting a Proton Exora in a suspicious condition at 1.30 am.
'The driver sped off after realizing the presence of the authorities, but crashed in a residential area before fleeing the vehicle,' he said in a statement today. 'The inspection found several boxes containing more than 150,000 sticks of Saat brand white cigarettes inside the vehicle, suspected of being smuggled into the local market,' he said. Nik Ros Azhan said the estimated value of the seized vehicle was RM35,000 while the white cigarettes were worth RM165,000, and the case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(e) of the Customs Act 1967
