KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — Petroliam Nasional Bhd has announced that the Timi field in Block SK318, located about 200 kilometres off the coast of Sarawak, has achieved its first gas production on August 22, 2023.
Block SK318 is operated by Sarawak Shell Bhd with a 75 per cent participating interest, in partnership with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and Brunei Energy Exploration . The national oil company said the Timi field development comprises a new wellhead fixed platform which is connected to the F23 production hub via an 80km pipeline.“Both the topside and substructure were fabricated locally, designed to be unmanned and powered by a solar and wind hybrid power energy system,” it said in a statement today.
Petronas’ Malaysia petroleum management senior vice-president, Mohamed Firouz Asnan said the group is pleased that Shell was able to optimise the development of Timi, which is capable of producing up to 300 million standard cubic feet per day of gas using less than 5.0 kilowatt of continuous power generation.
He said the group is also proud of its partnership with Block SK318 contractors and their service providers, and highlighted that the achievement would not have been possible without the strong support of the Sarawak state government. — Bernama
