Bozena Knapinski, 62, has been accused of trying to murder her husband after he suspected she was slowly poisoning him and set up a covert operation to catch her.

A woman accused of poisoning her husband of 39 years by spiking his water bottles with saline medication will fight the charge at trial.

Prosecutors allege Mrs Knapinski slowly poisoned her husband repeatedly for more than two years, but was caught out when he secretly recorded her. During a previous court hearing, police claimed Mr Knapinski had been suffering aches and pains, gastritis and hair loss for more than a year before he and his wife went on an extended holiday to Poland.“During the time away he noticed distinct improvements in his health,” the police prosecutor said.

Mr Knapinski recorded four occasions when his wife allegedly poured liquid from a small bottle into his water bottle while he was in another room.He told police he could smell chemicals in the bottles afterwards, so he sealed them and hid them from his wife.
