A Perth mother pleads guilty to endangering the safety of her two children after she became angry and held their heads under water in an inflatable pool.

A Perth mother has pleaded guilty to endangering the safety of her two children by, on separate days, holding their heads under the water in an inflatable pool. Her trial had been due to begin in the Supreme Court on MondayThe woman, who cannot be named to protect the identity of her son and daughter, had been due to stand trial today in the Supreme Court on charges including attempted murder, but she instead pleaded guilty to downgraded charges.

The court was told on an unknown date, likely to have been around Christmas 2020, she gave her nine-year-old son permission to play in an inflatable pool she had bought at a local supermarket. However, when he did not comply with her demands to get out of the pool, she became angry and grabbed him by the back of the neck before submerging his head under water. His sister, who was then aged seven or eight, came out to the backyard and said to her mother: "What are you doing? You shouldn't be doing that to a kid."The woman released her grip on her son and walked away, leaving him in the pool.

Ms Gregory said the boy's sister then helped him out of the water and took him to the couch where she wrapped him in a blanket before he went to sleep.
