KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional will not play on 3R issues (race, religion and royalty) to garner support from voters in the upcoming state elections, says its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Muhyiddin stressed the focus will be on issues that were important to the people such as the cost of living.
“Our agenda is always clear, we do not focus on those issues but on what is important to the people. Especially now, when voters feel the unity government has not done much. “In fact, some claim that the government failed to perform on what they promised to do in their manifesto. “It is not about race and religion, we treat all Malaysians the same but the concern now is how we address the issues the people are facing on the cost of living, inflation; that is the key message we want to mention in our campaigns,” he said in a press conference at the Perikatan headquarters on Thursday .Previously, the coalition had been criticised for using the 3R issues as part of its campaign agenda especially in Malay majority areas during elections.
Muhyiddin also announced that the coalition will contest all 245 state seats in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.The Pagoh MP added that the coalition is in its final stages of completing its manifesto for the six state elections which will also be announced at the state level.
