Perak river arsenic pollution persists, Span calls for water quality tests

PERAK has been urged to conduct water quality tests in Gerik and Kuala Kangsar to ensure raw water supply is free from arsenic pollution. National Water Services Commission chairman Charles Santiago said the issue of arsenic pollution in Gerik’s raw water has yet to be resolved despite the state government, via the Perak Water Board, having completed the laying of 11.5km of pipes and installation of a booster pump to channel water from the Lawin treatment plant to the one in Ayer Ganda, with the RM1.32 million project completed in just five weeks, ahead of schedule.
