Demand for fuel is declining as high prices drive customers away.Inventories of oil and diesel, meanwhile, did not gain any ground last week. Oil inventories fell slightly to 426.
Inventories of distillate fuels including diesel fell 1 percent to 112.5 million barrels last week from 113.8 the week before, leaving inventories 23 percent below normal.
