Stephanie Pope, right, executive vice president of The Boeing Company and president and chief executive officer of Boeing Global Services, announces Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at Tech Port SA the renaming of the facility to Boeing Center at Tech Port in a seven year naming rights deal. Port San Antonio, Boeing, and ASM Global, the company managing the facility for Port San Antonio, all declined to say how much Boeing paid for the rights.
According to The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the issue, an Air Force spokesman said the lapse was the result of Boeing failing to submit the credentials for renewal. The newspaper also cited unidentified sources in putting at 250 the number of Boeing employees involved. The company declined to disclose how many employees work on the Air Force One program in San Antonio. In January, it said total employment at the Port was about 3,000 people.
