Vice President Mike Pence is traveling across key states to campaign for Trump's reelection — giving him the opportunity to lay the groundwork for a potential 2024 presidential run
FRANKENMUTH, Mich. — Nobody knew the vice president was coming until he showed up at a family-style restaurant in town.
It’s a difficult balancing act for Pence. His boss, Trump, has never liked subordinates to upstage him. “They basically try to keep him clean from any of the day-to-day messes that are happening,” the person said. “That’s part of why he travels so much and why he’s glad to do these day-long bus tours, which get him out of D.C. and in front of the same voters he will need if he runs for president in the near future.”
