GEORGE TOWN: Penang Starwalk 2019 has been postponed in view of the haze situation as the air quality deteriorated to unhealthy levels and shows no signs of improvement.
In a statement, event organiser Star Media Group said the decision was made after advice from the state government and concerns over the effect of prolonged exposure to haze in outdoor activities on participants.
Meanwhile, Penang youth and sports committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said he appreciated the decision done to postpone the walk and said participants should not be disappointed. "We have also advised all outdoor sporting organisers of events until end of this month to postpone them to a later date when the haze is confirmed over.
Penang Starwalk 2019 will be held at Gurney Drive. Gurney Paragon Mall is the venue provider while F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd is the official beverage partner.The event's platinum sponsor is YTL Communications Sdn Bhd while Tenaga Nasional Bhd is the gold sponsor.
