BUTTERWORTH: The Penang Road Transport Department (JPJ) has nabbed 11 illegal e-hailing drivers and seized their cars in an operation.
State JPJ director Adenan Md Isa said the drivers were nabbed during an operation carried out by 30 personnel from his department on Wednesday in Penang.
"During the operation, we discovered the illegal activities of the company called 'InDriver' which has been in operation for some time and had never applied for a Public Land Transport registration or e-hailing vehicle permit . "JPJ staff who impersonated members of the public hailed the drivers, and they were apprehended when they used the illegal application," said Adenan at a press conference on Thursday .
"The operation was conducted after we received complaints from registered e-hailing drivers associations. Adenan said the operation would continue as the department suspects there could be at least about 200 such illegal drivers.
