GEORGE TOWN: A Penang assemblyman has suggested that"state cybertroopers" should be created to defend the image of Pakatan Harapan online.
This suggestion came after Kebun Bunga assemblyman Jason Ong told the state assembly on Tuesday that he was"hammered" by some cybertroopers for suggesting that incentives should be given to government officers to encourage them to take public transport. To protect the reputation of the Pakatan government on the Internet, Ong suggested that"state cybertroopers" should be created.
Ong added that cybertroopers should not provoke, defame and pretend to support the government while badmouthing the government online. "If the cybertroopers who always attack leaders on the Internet are not from the party, we should warn the people and make them aware that the statements from these cybertroopers do not represent the Pakatan Harapan government," he said.
