KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — A 29-year-old man suffered severe burns after a fire involving a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder broke out in an apartment unit in Penampang, Sabah, today.
The victim sustained burns to nearly 80 per cent of his body in the incident, which occurred in the kitchen of the residence. , Penampang Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Zeno Tingalan said emergency services were alerted at 11.15am, prompting the deployment of six firefighters, a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit to the scene.
“Firefighters immediately administered initial treatment to the victim before he was taken to hospital for further medical attention. “The fire and rescue team also carried out inspections to ensure there were no further hazards at the scene,” he said, as reported by the national daily.
