Pusat Persaudaraan Manusia Timor-Leste untuk Perdamaian Dunia lahir ditubuhkan berdasarkan Dokumen Persaudaraan Manusia untuk Perdamaian dan Hidup Bersama, atau dikenali sebagai Deklarasi Abu Dhabi, yang ditandatangani pada tahun 2019 oleh Sri Paus Fransiskus dan Imam Besar Al-Azhar, Ahmad Al-Tayyeb.

Dalam ucapannya semasa perasmian, Kardinal Pena Parra meminta masyakarat Timor-Leste untuk tetap berkomitmen dan menjaga perdamaian, persatuan dan persaudaraan. Pelancaran tersebut juga ditandai dengan tandatangan damai persaudaraan manusia oleh para pemimpin Katolik dan Muslim.
