Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 24th Street and McDowell Road on Sunday at approximately 7:30 p.m. to investigate a crash involving a car and a pedestrian. When officers arrived at the scene they found a man, later identified as 41-year-old Jose Aranda Chavarria.
The man driving the car that hit Chavarria stayed on the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.
