Pedestrian hit by car, seriously injured on state Route 94 in Mount Hope [Breaking]
A man walking on the freeway was struck by a car and seriously injured Wednesday morning on state Route 94 in the Sherman Heights area, authorities said.
The collision was reported shortly after 11:15 a.m. on westbound SR-94 just east of the 25th Street overcrossing, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jesse Matias. A 73-year-old woman driving a Ford Taurus ran into the pedestrian, who was thought to be in his 30s. The injured man was not carrying ID and officials were trying to determine his identity. He suffered major head injuries and was unconscious when he was transported to a hospital, Matias said.The driver, a Bonita resident, stopped after the collision and cooperated with authorities. Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash, Matias said.
