KOTA KINABALU: A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a four-wheel drive vehicle in Sabah’s east coast Tawau district on Monday night (Jan 2).
Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said the victim, in his 50s, was crossing the road when the incident occurred at 11.35pm at Mile 15, Jalan Apas.
"Because of the proximity between the man and the vehicle, the driver was unable to avoid crashing into the victim,” he said, in a statement here on Tuesday .ACP Jasmin said an autopsy would be conducted as soon as the victim’s Covid-19 test results were obtained, adding the case was being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
