PDRM U-turns, Says Action Against Escort Who Punched OKU Driver Was Actually For Undeclared Assets

The case of Johor regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim’s escort punching a deaf e-hailing driver in Kuala Lumpur has been a messy one ever since it took place

in May. Recently, due to there being a lack of action taken against the escort, Lawyers For Liberty along with the OKU driver released dashcam footage of the incident.

Now, the Inspector-General of Police is making a U-turn by saying that the internal disciplinary action faced by the escort was for something entirely different, namely for not declaring his assets. “JIPS will look at, among other things, not updating officers’ pocketbooks, polygamy or going out of the county without permission and failure to declare a property that violates the Standing Order of the Chief of Police . For this case, the officer was found to have not declared his assets, therefore action was imposed on him,” he said.
