Police are looking for the illegal riders (Rempits) who ran away after hitting a white Myvi.
In an official statement by PDRM in Terengganu, the police responded to the viral video that showed 2 Rempits performing a wheelie stunt that failed – both riders fell to the ground while the unmanned motorcycle swerved and hit an oncoming Myvi, causing damage to its bumper.
The viral video also showed other riders at the scene shocked by the incident, and some even “cheered” as a joke. The video stopped there but according to the police, both riders fled without approaching the Myvi driver to offer compensation. During the incident, the 23-year-old female driver was travelling from Dataran Austin towards Teluk Ketapang, while the Honda EX5 motorcycle ridden by a man with a female passenger was coming from Jalan Kem Askar heading towards Teluk Ketapang.For safety purposes, the Myvi driver lodged a police report on the same night.
“We are currently tracking down the rider and passenger of the motorcycle involved in the accident, with the case being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987,” said Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor, the Chief Police of Kuala Terengganu. If you happen to encounter a similar incident, do not attempt to chase or engage alone, especially if you are outnumbered.
