KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah’s (PBS) support for the Perikatan Nasional government of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is conditional, says PBS president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili.
“Our support is conditional because we want the Federal Government to resolve pertinent issues affecting Sabah such as security, illegal immigrants, Malaysia Agreement 1963 and development, ” he told party members at its 35th anniversary celebration here on Thursday night.
Ongkili, however, reiterated PBS’ support for the Federal Government under the leadership of the eighth Prime Minister Muhyiddin, who took over after a political impasse with the resignation of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.Ongkili told party members that PBS, which was formed in 1985, would continue to push for issues that needed to be resolved in the state while also strengthening itself to face the 15th General Election.
He said PBS had survived many challenges over the years because it had been tested through its ups and downs. “This is because of the nature of our continuous struggle, especially on matters enshrined in MA63, ” he said.
