The Government must learn from the mistakes of previous redress schemes when considering a scheme for those affected by abuse in religious-run schools, Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe has said.

"Of course, the lessons of history are also with us from redress schemes of the past in terms of how difficult and how much time it took to implement them and what the costs of them were, who contributed and who didn't contribute."He said: "We have this deep, painful wound now - and I use wound rather than scar because it's an open wound - it's hurting today.
