PAS sedang meneroka untuk menguasai Perak dan seterusnya pantai barat Semenanjung Malaysia selepas kejayaan besarnya pada Pilihan Raya Umum ke-15, didorong faktor pengaruh parti Islam itu dalam sistem pendidikan dan pentadbiran Islam di negeri-negeri, rumus satu kajian ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute di Singapura.

Kajian ke atas pendidikan Islam di Perak dibuat oleh felo pelawat Mohd Faizal Musa, yang juga felo penyelidik Institut Alam & Tamadun Melayu Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia , bersama Afra Alatas, pegawai penyelidik di ISEAS.
