PETALING JAYA: The failure to gazette the Cabinet posts of ministers by the Pakatan Harapan government affects the legality of their functions, says PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.
"PAS is shocked by the statement by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong that the positions of the Cabinet have yet to be gazetted even though they have been administrating for one year.
"According to the Section 2 of the Ministerial Functions Act 1969, after the ministers and deputy ministers have been appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the government needs to gazette the ministers of the Federal Government Order 2018."The gazetting of the Cabinet ministers' positions should not be passed off as trivial as it will affect the legality of the functions of the members of the Cabinet," said Takiyuddin.
He was referring to Liew's admission in an interview recently that the ministers' positions had yet to be gazetted despite Pakatan being in power for one year. Liew said despite this, former Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Ali Hamsa had"okayed" their positions.
