The Malay language daily said that, according to PAS' Harakahdaily portal, the announcement of his resignation was made through a brief statement to the Islamist party's central leadership. In the statement, the PAS vice-president said that he had submitted his resignation letter to the Perikatan leadership.
"Assalamualaikum to all friends, I wish to inform everyone that I, Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, have sent my resignation letter as the Perikatan treasurer today, Wednesday . Thank you," he said in a brief message to Harakahdaily. Sinar Harian reported that Ahmad Samsuri's decision had been described as surprising, as he is regarded as one of the key figures in PAS, which is a Perikatan component party.So far, no official statement has been released by the Perikatan leadership on the matter, although one is expected to be issued soon.
