Selangor PAS chief Sallehen Mukhyi today accused Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Hannah Yeoh of going against the Selangor sultan and a stateSallehin said this was because a state fatwa had decreed the NGO a"deviant" organisation.
"The Selangor fatwa committee and Selangor Islamic Religious Council had decided that SIS has deviated from the teachings of Islam. "The action of the deputy minister from DAP challenges the fatwa issued by Mais," he said in a statement today.issued by Mais declared SIS as deviating from Islamic teachings on the grounds that it adopts liberal ideologies. In his statement, Sallehen added that it was also an indirect challenge against the Selangor ruler, who overseas Islamic affairs in the state.
"PAS demands that the DAP deputy minister withdraws the allocation to SIS and apologise to the Selangor sultan, Mais and all Muslims," he said., stating that it was for SIS' Telenisa, a free legal aid clinic assisting Muslim women who need help in Islamic family law and syariah matters. For almost 20 years, Malaysiakini has stayed true to the cause of providing the Malaysian public with the truth.
