The Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, ruled against a debate on the alleged hiding of an addendum order, citing Standing Orders related to court matters and the use of the word 'treason'. The Opposition leader, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, accused the Prime Minister of treason for his silence on the matter, claiming the government's move to allegedly hide the royal decree was an act against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul has ruled that the issue of the addendum should not be raised during debates in the august hall.
Johari made his ruling after heated exchanges from both sides of the floor. The Opposition leader, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin , raised the issue during debates and accused the Prime Minister of treason for his silence.“This is my ruling, owing to Standing Order 36, which deals with matters in court and Standing Order 36 over the use of the word ‘treason’, I disallow both.
“The point is that if someone hides a royal decree, he has acted treason against the King and the country,” he said. Before Johari made the ruling, the Speaker said that the matter should be left to the court.‘Addendum was not hidden’JB couple fined RM17,000, ordered to do community service for child neglectDriver who hit ACCA top scorer released on police bail
