Parliament holds first public open day
Parliament has been opened to members of the public for the first time in its history today. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, May 6, 2023.
Dewan Negara Speaker Rais Yatim said visitors starting arriving as early as 9am and it had proven to be a popular event. He said there will be exhibitions about statesmen and also books, performances, traditional food, arts and crafts, and paintings and caricatures. Rais also launched the book: ‘Parliament of Malaysia: Pillar of the Nation’s Democracy’ produced in co-operation with the parliamentary research and interpretation officers.“It has been around 30 years that I have had a wish to visit parliament, and I have finally done it.
