Park Ridge voters in November will weigh in on a proposal to increase property taxes to pay for more than $31 million in upgrades to Oakton Park.
The Park Ridge Park District Board, meeting virtually on Jan. 6, voted 4-3 in support of a motion directing staff to begin the process of placing a $31.7 million bond referendum on the Nov. 8, 2022 election ballot.
Over the next few months, the park district will provide informational materials on the project and host public presentations, said Margaret Holler, park district spokeswoman. Other proposed improvements to the building would include renovating the lobby, restrooms, and locker rooms; replacing siding and the ventilation system; and improving accessibility for visitors with disabilities, according to the park district.
