Pantech Global Bhd (PGB), a manufacturer and exporter of butt weld pipe fittings and welded pipes, anticipates minimal impact from recent US tariffs on steel and aluminum. The company's downstream business model and diversified global supply chain act as buffers against fluctuations in raw material prices.
Managing Director Adrian Tan explained that unlike upstream producers directly affected by tariff-related cost increases, PGB primarily operates in the value-added segment, mitigating its exposure. \Tan highlighted PGB's experience in navigating international trade regulations, successfully defending itself against anti-dumping and circumvention cases in both the US and European Union markets. This experience instills confidence in PGB's ability to maintain competitiveness and market access despite evolving trade policies. Looking ahead, PGB continues to explore new opportunities in North Africa (Egypt) and South America (Brazil), ensuring its expansion strategy remains resilient to geopolitical trade shifts. \PGB recently unveiled its initial public offering (IPO) prospectus and plans to list as a syariah-compliant stock on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia. The IPO is expected to raise approximately RM178.32 million through the public issue of 262.23 million new ordinary shares at 68 sen per share. Applications close on February 19, with balloting scheduled for February 24. PGB's listing is targeted for March 3. Proceeds from the IPO will be allocated to various initiatives, including business expansion, capital expenditure, working capital, repayment of bank borrowings, and listing expenses. The company's three-pronged strategy for sustainable growth incorporates these allocations. PGB's business expansion plans involve setting up a factory and corporate head office in Selangor to broaden the range of fittings manufactured, a warehouse in Johor to improve order fulfillment, and a pickling facility in Johor to accommodate longer pipes. Additionally, the company intends to purchase, upgrade, and replace machinery and equipment, as well as components, to enhance production capabilities and efficiency.
