KUANTAN: Six more cash initiatives have been announced by the state government to aid those affected by the movement control order (MCO) during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the initiatives included RM100 in cash aid as well as essential items worth RM50 given to each of the 2,400 non-pensionable veterans of the Pahang Armed Forces Veterans Association.
The same aid will be extended to 600 former police personnel who are members of the Pahang Ex-Police Association. Likewise, 300 volunteers of the Territorial Army Regiment 505, as well as 565 unlicensed fishermen, will receive the same aid.Wan Rosdy said the management of Kolej Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah would receive RM20,000 to bear the food expenses of 60 Pahang students staying in rented houses.
This would make the total number of initiatives introduced by the state government come up to 28 at the cost of RM24.962mil or about 3.37% of the state's 2020 budget, he said."It is hoped that these 28 initiatives can be implemented effectively thus helping the people who have been badly affected by the MCO, which is an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19," he said in a statement.
