Eastern Visayas and Caraga region may continue to experience scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms due to the prevalence of the shear line—a boundary line where the cold and warm air masses meet, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
PAGASA continued to warn against possible flash floods or landslides during “heavy to intense with at times torrential rains” in these areas. Scattered light to heavy rains and thunderstorms because of the shear line may also cause flooding or landslides in Palawan and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon, locally called “amihan,” may bring cloudy and rainy weather in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol region, Aurora, and Quezon. It also warned those in areas affected by the amihan to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.
