Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar, after colliding with CJ Abrams, was walking off field when he collapsed at the edge of the dirt
, quite as much as Jurickson Profar waving his fist to a sellout crowd as he was carted off the field in top of the fifth.
Profar’s head snapped back as his jaw caught Abrams’ knee flush. Abrams was relatively quick to get to his feet, but Profar rolled around on the grass as trainers headed to the field. He was eventually sitting upright when it appeared as if he told the trainers he was OK. After standing, Profar began walking toward the Padres’ dugout when he collapsed at the edge of the dirt.Advertisement
The Padres said Profar was transported to UC San Diego Health but there was no immediate word on his condition. Giants starter Logan Webb was nearly as good to start Thursday’s contest, allowing the only run on Machado’s 421-foot homer into the second deck in left field in the fourth.
