The death is ruled an accident, the coroner's office says.

The incident happened about 6 p.m. in a backyard swimming pool in the 500 block of North Fenwick Street in the city, the coroner’s office said. The boy was pronounced dead at 7:18 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township, the coroner’s office said.

An autopsy was completed on Tuesday and the child’s death was ruled an accident, the coroner’s office said.Tony Rhodin can be reached at
