happened just before 9:15 p.m. near East Valley Drive when a northbound silver Saturn collided with a southbound Chevrolet Traverse, Chief Scott M. Fogel said in an email.The Chevrolet was driven by a township man, Fogel said. A child was a passenger in the vehicle, Fogel said. Both were wearing seatbelts and neither required medical attention, Fogel said.
The 63-year-old Carbon County man driving the Saturn was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, Fogel said. The Saturn sustained “heavy damage” in the crash and the front air bags deployed, Fogel said. The Northampton County coroner’s office responded, Fogel said. The office will work to determine the cause and manner of the man’s death and will notify the man’s family.
Riverview Drive — which is Route 145 — was closed for more than four hours while police investigated, Fogel said. The probe is continuing, the chief added.
