Tuesday's election produces the possibility of chaos in the Pa. House over which party holds the majority.
On the Jan. 3 swearing-in day ceremony for the legislature, Davis would still take a seat as a member of the House since he would not take the oath of office for his executive branch post until Jan. 17.
All that is to say that the Democratic victory celebration on Wednesday for picking up additional seats to boost their numbers above the 90 seats they currently hold may be a bit premature. “Pennsylvania voters rejected overwhelmingly fear. Pennsylvania voters overwhelmingly rejected hatred. Pennsylvania voters overwhelmingly rejected division and the fact that here in the birthplace of our nation and the birthplace of our democracy, it is much more than symbolic that we will finally have a woman that has the gavel in the Pennsylvania House at a time when women seem to be under attack in our nation,” McClinton said.
Aside from that confusing state of affairs, here are other highlights that emerged in the General Assembly from Tuesday’s election: Once again, a member of the Lower Bucks County Tomlinson family political dynasty maintains her seat. Republican Kathleen “K.C.” Tomlinson appears to have bested her Democratic opponent to win re-election to a second term based on unofficial results. The family tradition dates to her father, Republican Sen. Robert “Tommy” Tomlinson, who is retiring this year, winning election in 1990.
