A mandatory water conservation alert has been issued for the Mechanicsburg area.

This additionally includes locations such as Silver Spring Township, Hampden Township, Lower Allen Township, Lemoyne Borough, Worleysburg Borough, East Pennsboro Township, New Cumberland Borough, Fairview Township, and others. “The mandatory conservation order follows an unexpected incident affecting the company’s Silver Spring Water Treatment Plant water sources,” reads the release. “Pennsylvania American Water is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
“Additionally, the company has increased production at its West Shore Water Treatment Plant, which also serves the Mechanicsburg water system, and opened an emergency interconnection with a neighboring water system.” The nature of this incident is still unclear as of the publishing of this report.
