BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) said that P872 million is needed to repair schools damaged by typhoon “Egay” in the Cordillera.
DepEd said 216 classrooms were severely damaged, 717 were slightly damaged, and 878 were partially damaged by the howler in the region.
Cyrille Gaye Miranda of the DepEd-Cordillera Public Affairs Unit said despite this, all these schools are fully prepared for the opening of classes on August 29. Miranda said with the help of the police and private companies, Brigada Eskwela is ongoing for the gradual repair of these damaged classrooms.
She said there will be temporary learning spaces or tent-style makeshift classrooms to enable students to have classes while these learning structures are yet to be repaired.
