The Western Visayas regional police have confiscated over P86 million worth of illegal drugs since May 24 in the continuing aggressive operations against illegal trades in the country.
Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, director of the Police Regional Office 6, said the operations also resulted in the arrest of 704 suspected drug pushers and users who are now facing criminal charges in various courts in the region.
The drug haul includes the recent P14.3 million shabu bust in Bacolod City headed by Police Col. Noel Aliño, the operation was lauded by PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. "The successful operation in Bacolod City sends a clear message that the PNP remains steadfast in its fight against illegal drugs,” said Acorda in a statement.
“This accomplishment reflects the dedication and professionalism of our officers and the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations. We will continue to collaborate with local authorities to maintain the security and safety of our communities,” he added.Bacolod City has the most confiscated drugs with P40.7 million worth of shabu seized and 123 people arrested, followed by Iloilo City Police with P24.6 million with arrest of 165 suspected drug pushers and users.
Villaflor vowed to continue the aggressive operations against illegal drugs, including the intensified intelligence-gathering against all drugs syndicates operating in the region.
