“I’m a professional magician, which means that I do this full-time for a living, and it’s how I make money,” he told SaltWire in an interview at his home on April 24. “I liked magic from a young age. That contact led to Ethan preparing to perform at a UPEI event called Project X at Confederation Centre of the Arts on May 26.“He’s a young guy and he’s looking for people to take a chance on him,” Emily said. “He eats and breathes this stuff. When he says he does this 24-7, ask anybody. He does it at church, he does it at the park. He constantly has coins or is making noises with his hands, always manipulating something, somehow.
“When he found the Conjuror Community, it was like, ‘these are my people’, and he was just stoked,” Emily says. “I do a lot of things with my hands and magic is an illusion, so there’s a lot of gimmicks that go into that,” Ethan said. “I like to think of magic as this space of imagination, where you can go for just a couple of minutes where everything is possible. Of course, it’s not real, but it feels real in that moment. It’s the art of deception, in a beautiful way.”
