The 20 vehicles owners who suffered losses in the flash flood which occurred yesterday, December 9 in Precinct 11 in Putrajaya will receive RM1,000 in assistance, reported
A temporary car park will be established by the Putrajaya Corporation, and this will accommodate 200 vehicles as a short-term solution, said minister in the prime minister’s department for federal territories Zaliha Mustafa, who has requested for the corporation to complete the temporary car park within two weeks.
“Furthermore, I have asked the Putrajaya Corporation to set up a warning system, involving the use of sirens and alerts to residents in the area to move their vehicles promptly. This can be achieved by employing the Internet of Things where sensors will be installed in drainage maintenance compartments throughout Putrajaya to monitor the water level,” the minister said.
The cause of the flood in Precinct 11 of Putrajaya was identified to be heavy rain upstream of Sungai Anak Gajah, which led to water overflow in low-lying areas. As a long-term measure, the ministry plans to collaborate with the Irrigation and Drainage Department to reassess the drainage system in the area. Improvements will be made to prevent similar incidents if the drainage is found to be inadequate, the report wrote.Open roads and closed circuits hold great allure for Mick Chan.
